Hildegard Elowsky
1920 - 2014Hildegard Alma Elowsky, age 93 of Posen Township,
passed away at home on April 9, 2014.
She was born August 5, 1920 in Aschaffenburg, Germany
to Leonhard Johann and Maria (Bachmayer) Schmidt.
Hildegard immigrated to the United States in 1951, She moved from
Detroit to Rogers City in 1952. On June 12, 1955 she married
Edward Richard Elowsky at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Metz.
Mrs. Elowsky was a Registered Nurse and a Midwife in this area for
many years. She was an avid traveler, enjoying many destinations
throughout the world, Hildegard enjoyed walking, swimming, skiing, and
was an accomplished seamstress. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran
Church, its Ladies Aid Society and the Farm Bureau.
Mrs, Elowsky is survived by:
3 daughters, Deborah (Ken) Zellar of Curtis, Kirsten Elowsky of Virginia,
and Wanda (Mark) Gorlewski of Rogers City;
4 grandchildren, Michael Loew, Christopher Loew, Jenny (Greg) Idalski,
and Jessica (Andrew) Roznowski;
5 great grandchildren, Haylee, Rachael, Isaac, Meredith, and Kaelyn;
nephew, Dr. Jorg (Karin) Walther of Coburg, Germany;
great niece, Kathrin Walther;
great nephew, Andreas Walther;
niece-in-law, Marianne Walther,
She was preceded in death by:
her husband, Edward;
parents, Leonhard Johann and Maria Schmidt;
stepmother, Gertrud Schmidt;
sister and brother-in-law, Elfriede and Dr. Leo Walther;
nephew, Lutz Walther.
Friends may visit at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Metz on Wednesday,
April 23rd from 12:00 p.m. through time of funeral at 1:00 p.m,
with Pastor Jeff Ryan officiating.
Burial will take place at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
