Howard Luebke
1924 - 2020Howard Henry Luebke age 96 of Rogers City passed away peacefully at his daughter Nan’s home on August 16, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 9, 1924 in Hillman to Henry and Effie (Patow) Luebke.
Howard served in the United States Army during World War II. On April 6, 1946 he married Lois Lozen at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rogers City. In his younger years, Howard worked as a Fire Tower Watcher. He retired from Calcite as an Electrician after many years of employment. He was a life member of the Rogers City VFW and the Rogers City Servicemen’s Club. He enjoyed bowling and fishing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by five children, Howard Dennis Luebke of Toledo, Ohio, Nancy Jean (Jim) Wilson of Crystal River, Florida, Nannette Sue (Mark) Fleming of Rogers City, Randall Lee (Lisa) Luebke of East Jordan and Janine Ann Luebke of Onaway; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; four and one on the way great-great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Elaina Luebke of Missouri.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Lois; grandson, Mitch S. Kortman; great grandson, Bastian Rye Fleming; two brothers, George Luebke and Ken (Marian) Luebke; and an infant sister.
Friends may visit St. John Lutheran Church in Rogers City on Monday, August 24 th from 10 a.m. through time of his memorial service at 11 a.m. with Pastor J. Derek Riddle officiating.
Rogers City VFW Post 607 will accord full military honors immediately following at church.
Inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to McLaren Hospice or St. John Radio Fund in memory of Howard Luebke.
