James Lovelly
1937 - 2017James Gerald Lovelly age 79 of Cheboygan
passed away peacefully at home surrounded by
his family on January 25, 2017.
He was born February 10, 1937 in Cheboygan
to Earl and Angela (O’Neil) Lovelly.
James was a graduate from Cheboygan High School class of 1954. He
married his high school sweetheart, Sally, on January 7, 1956. He started
their family then continued his education at Houghton Forestry in
Marquette. James loved his fishing trips in Canada and hunting at the
cabin in the U.P. He also enjoyed golfing with his best friend, George
Goebel, and always loved spending time with his family. James was a
member of the Lyons Club for 40 years and a F.O.E. member for 50 years.
He retired after 20 years from U.S, Post Service to enjoy his winters in
sunny Florida with his wife. They enjoyed walking every day and tea at
McDonald’s with friends year around,
Mr. Lovelly is survived by:
his wife of 61 years, Sally;
son, James (Barbie) Lovelly Jr;
2 daughters, Kitty Goldizen and Shelly Duffiney;
grandchildren, Richard (Carrie) Lovelly, Jason Lovelly,
Zachary (Samantha) Lovelly, Michael Duffin,
Cindy (Jeff) Doss, Roger (Jenn) Duffiney,
Adam (Destinee) Goldizen, Andrea Goldizen, and
Anthony Goldizen;
Great grandchildren, Isaiah and Brandon Lovelly, McKayla, Joey,
Chauncey, and Devin Lovelly, Gabe and Hannah
Duffiney, Zephrin and Jeffery Doss, Tori Webb,
Trey and Autume Goldizen and Dallas Goldizen;
sister, Sharon Ingalsbe;
sister-in-law, Karen (Bernie) Schramm;
brother-in-law, Don (Twyla) Landon; and
many nieces and nephews,
He was preceded in death by:
his parents, Earl and Angela;
son, Richard T. Lovelly;
granddaughter, Ambar L. Lovelly;sisters, Nancy McDonald, Bonnie Lovelly, Rosemary Lovelly,
Carol Worley;
son-in-law, Roger Duffiney;
brother-in-law, William Ingalsbe;
sister-in-law, Leah Place;
brother-in-law, Glen Place;
nephew, Gene Place, and
best friend and golfing buddy, George Goebel.
Private services will take place.
In licu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of the Straits.
