Jeanette Buczkowski

1942 - 2024

Jeanette Frances (Budnik) Buczkowski left her earthly dwelling to be with her heavenly family on May 17, 2024 while at the Primrose Assisted Living Center in Midland.

She was the 8th of 16 children born to Theophilus and Antoinette (Strzelecki) Budnik on June 6, 1942 in Posen, Michigan.

Jeanette graduated from Posen High School in 1961 and shortly after moving to Rogers City she soon met a handsome William “Bill” Buczkowski. They were married on August 18, 1962 at St. Ignatius Church in Rogers City and so began their life long journey to over 61 years of marriage.

Jeanette is survived by her loving husband William, her three children Steven Buczkowski of White Lake, Terry (Laurie) Buczkowski of Posen, and Ann Marie (Gregory) Main of Millersburg. Her grandchildren Leanne (Nathon) Kovach, Holly Buczkowski, Amy (Ian Hickerson) Buczkowski, Parker Buczkowski and step grandkids Monica (Conrad) Linehan, David (Kim) Main, Sarah (Jason) Gruenberg and Mark (Ana) Main and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three of her brothers George Budnik, Larry (Barb) Budnik and Emil (Pat) Budnik, in-laws Doris Budnik, Anne Buckner, Judy DeYoung, Joan Budnik, Clara Budnik, Bill Grzeskowiak, Ed (Mary) Buczkowski, Jim (Carol) Buczkowski, Blanche Buczkowski and Janet Garant along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents, brothers Aloysius, Clarence, Florian, Patrick (Becky), Alphonse, Phil, Leon and Mitch Budnik along with sisters Charlotte (Louis) Darga, Bernadine (Tom) Lewandowski, Elaine Grzeskowiak and Annette Budnik. In-laws, Joanne Budnik, Eugene and Norma Buczkowski, Norman Buczkowski, Ralph Buczkowski, Madeline and Larry Knapp, Delores and; Richard LaBarge, Gladys and; Jerry Raukenberg.; and her parents-in-law, William and Jennie Buczkowski.

During her life she devoted her time to her faith as a member of the Posen Rosary Sodality for over 50 years, serving as president for a number of years. She (and Bill) contributed countless hours over to the famous Potato Pancake dinner during the Posen Potato Festival, she and the ladies of the sodality made and sold the delicious homemade candies at the annual St. Casimir Christmas Bazaar and she operated the weekly bingo game at St. Casimir School. Jeanette served as a eucharistic minister in the past and took pride in decorating the alters weekly with flowers or the church for Easter and Christmas seasons. When not serving her faith, Bill and she enjoyed their trips to Las Vegas and the local casino’s. She was always up for game of cards, playing bingo or puttering in her flower beds and watching her kids and grandkids at their sports. So many memories will be shared when she would take the time to play with the kids at family gatherings, those visiting or as they grew up in the family neighborhood. She could make a picnic in the pasture seem like a grand adventure or whip up a quick costume for the kids to play dress up. She would help Bill every summer fill the shelves of their pantry with canned goods from their garden or deliver the extra’s to friends and family to enjoy. She will be missed by her family, but they rejoice in the thought of her once again being with her sisters and brothers that have gone before her to see what kind of lighthearted shenanigans they can get into.

Friends may visit the Beck Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 22nd from 4-8 p.m. where the Rosary Sodality will lead the rosary at 6:30 followed by the parish wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday at St. Casimir Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Charlie Donajkowski officiating.

A luncheon will follow mass at the St. Casimir School gym.

Memorials may be given in memory of Jeanette Buczkowski to St. Jude’s, Posen Fire and First Responders, St. Casimir Church or a local Hospice organization as Jeanette and her family received overwhelming support from two wonderful organizations in the recent months with Hospice of Michigan and Careline Hospice in Midland.
