John Smitka

John M. “Jack” Smitka age 80 of Rogers City
passed away January 25, 2009 at home

He was born April 23, 1928 in Wyandotte
to John and Kathryn (Fisher) Smitka

On August 19, 1950 Jack married MJ. Whitney in Wyandotte.

Mr. Smitka taught science at Cass Tech, Denby, and Finney High schools in Detroit
He retired in 1986.

The Smitka’s moved from Detroit to Rogers City in 1988. Jack was a member of the
Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by:
wife, MJ.
3 sons,

Michael & Gloria of Lexington, VA,
Curt & Cynthia of Ann Arbor, and
Tim of Indianapolis, IN
4 grandchildren,
Mayumi, John, Nicole, and Steven
1 sister, Jean Smith of Kalispell, MT

He was preceded in death by:
1 sister, Mary Behn

A memorial service will take place at Westminster Presbyterian Church on
Saturday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m., family will receive guests | hour prior to service.

Memorials may be given to Presque Isle Food Pantry or Hospice of Michigan in
memory of Jack Smitka.
