John Tosch
1934 - 2011John Edward Tosch age 77 of Rogers City
passed away April 5, 2011 at Alpena Regional Medical Center
He was born March 8, 1934 in Rogers City
to Edward and Jeanette (Rabideau) Tosch ,
John served in the United States Army from February 10, 1956 to January 24, 1958.
On January 30, 1960 he married Joyce Hein at St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
He sailed with the Bradley Fleet and was a plank owner of the John G. Munson.
John retired from Calcite in August of 1993. John was a member of St. Ignatius
Catholic Church, he was an active 3rd degree Knights of Columbus member helping
with bingo and Friday night fish dinners. He was also a member of Rogers City
Servicemen’s Club and helped organize the Nautical City Festival Parades.
John enjoyed deer hunting. He will be remembered as the lawn mower and snow
blower of Stone Lane.
He is survived by:
wife, Joyce;
6 children, Chuck (Deb) of Port Washington, Wisconsin,
Robert Terry (April) of Rogers City,
Jeanine (Alva) Powell of West Hills, California,
Stephanie (Dale) Thrush of Casper, Wyoming,
John Arthur of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, and
Mary of Bemidji, Minnesota;
5 grandchildren, Holli, Alva, Jesse, Jeremy, and Mallary;
2 sisters, Dorothy Vojonovich and Donna Quaine of Rogers City
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Jeanette.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m.
where the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 6:30 followed by
a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. with Sr. Rita Epple conducting. Visitation will resume on
Monday at St. Ignatius Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m, through time of mass at
10:00 a.m. with Fr. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating. Rogers City VFW will offer a
military tribute following mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Ignatius School or American Heart
Association in memorv of Iohn Tosch._
