John Ward

John Paul Ward 86 of Cheboygan passed away peacefully at his home on April 13, 2022.

He was born March 29, 1936 in Cheboygan to Homer and Emma (Durocher) Ward. John graduated from Cheboygan Catholic High School in 1954. He went on to graduate from Notre Dame University in 1958 with a degree in finance. After graduation John returned to Cheboygan and ran his family business for several years. He soon became involved in many community organizations, including the Cheboygan City Council, the Board of Directors of Community Memorial Hospital, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA), the Finance Council of the Cheboygan Catholic Community, as well as the Cheboygan Arts Council, and the Northland Players. John joined the staff of Citizens National Bank in 1973. He retired from CNB as Senior Vice President. On June 16, 1967 he married Nancy Haack in Cheboygan.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Rachel Ward-Kimbrell of Cheboygan; son, Nathan (Nancy) Ward of Lake Leelanau; eight grandchildren, Luke, Maggie, Owen, Lawrence, Breanna, Katherine, Emma, and Hosanna; one great grandson, Jack Ward; and one sister Mary Rydman.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Emma and two sisters, Wanda Miller and Patricia Dundas.

Friends may visit at St. Mary / St. Charles Catholic Church on Thursday, June 9^th from 10 a.m. through time of Mass at 11 a.m.
