1933 - 2020On Saturday, March 14, 2020, Kathryn Lena Rudolph loving mother of four passed away at age 86 at Orchard Manor.
Kathryn “Katie” was born on March 25, 1933 in Rogers City to Arthur and Edna (Klee) Grulke.
She graduated from Rogers City High School in 1951 and was married to Elton Armand Rudolph Sr. on June 13, 1953. They were married for 51 years until his death in 2004. Katie was educated as a nurse and worked briefly in Alpena before moving to Monroe where she continued her career working for 20+ years. Kathryn is a breast cancer survivor and in addition to nursing, she enjoyed spending time with her family participating in church activities such as choir, quilting, reading, golfing, bowling and playing cards with family and friends. Katie enjoyed growing up on “the farm” and often spoke fondly with others of her years as a young girl living in the country.
She is survived by her children, Elton Jr. (Lavonne), John (Carla), Tina (Mark) Verlinden, and Bill; loving grandmother to Shawn (Jennifer), Craig (Karen), Aaron (Erin), Brandon (Kaelyn), Lindsey, and Ariel; great grandmother to Jack, Addison, Dylan Rose, and Cooper; brothers, Carl, Royce, Dennis, and Dale; sisters, Ellen Hopp and Joyce Schwiesow; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Rudolph and Lillian Sprengler; god-daughter, Janis Latz; and blessed with many additional nieces and nephews.
Katie is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Elton Sr.; parents, Arthur and Edna; brothers, Arnold, Norman, Leroy, James, Gerald, Merlin, and Harlan; and sisters, Doris, Arlene, Mabel, and infant Anne.
Friends may visit at Peace Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 19th from 11 a.m. until time of her funeral at 12 noon with Pastor J. Derek Riddle officiating.
Burial will take place in the spring at St. Michael Lutheran Cemetery in Belknap.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Michigan in memory of Kathryn Rudolph.
