Kim McLaren
1956 - 2019Kim Eugene McLaren age 62 of Long Rapids
passed away at home on January 5, 2019.
He was born to Norman John and Thelma Jean
(Sharp) McLaren on June 25, 1956 in Alpena.
He was the youngest of his siblings. He lived
in Long Rapids until he was a teenager then the family moved to Lake
Orion. He graduated from Lake Orion High School in 1974 then married
Julie Roberson later that year. A few years later the family moved back
to Long Rapids, in order for Kim to realize his dream of raising his
family in the home he grew up in, Kim owned his own welding business
for many years. He loved his garage, hanging out at the “camp”, riding
his buggy around the neighborhood, and trying to teach his grandkids
how to play Chess and Backgammon.
Kim is survived by:
his children, Angie (Rob) Kania and Jason (Cristy) McLaren;
grandchildren, Chelsea (Mathew) Aube, Emily Chrzan,
Chelsy McLaren (Jonathan Irvin), and Gage McLaren;
his former wife and lifelong friend, Julie Kamyszek;
his first great-grandchild who is due in June; and
his siblings, Linda (Dave) Wirgau, Ivan (Mary) McLaren,
Mike (Terri) McLaren and Mitch (Brenda) McLaren.
He joins his parents, Norman and Jean; his eldest brother, Gerald McLaren,
and his favorite dog Rex.
Friends may visit at the Grace Episcopal Church, 13488 Long Rapids Rd,
Lachine, MI 49753, on Saturday, January 12th from 1-3 p.m. with a time
of remembrance at 2 p.m, with Pastor John Laycock officiating.
Inurnment will take place at the Long Rapids Township Cemetery.
