Kurt Brown
1962 - 2025Kurt Cameron Brown, age 62, of Onaway passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey on February 11, 2025, following a brief illness.
He was born in Cheboygan to Julius and Marva (Kephart) Brown on August 31, 1962.
Kurt graduated from Onaway High School in 1980. He worked in adult foster care homes for 10 years and then managed Little Ceaser’s in Rogers City and Kammie’s Kitchen in Onaway prior to beginning work at Brian’s Auto Sales/Norb’s Auto Body in 1998. No matter where he worked, Kurt always made a point to make a loving connection with those around him. On October 17, 1998, he married Marleen Domke at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Onaway. Kurt enjoyed going to local summer concerts, riding his bike, spending time with his family and friends as well as his beloved dogs, Bailey and Gretta Lou. He looked forward to gatherings with friends who became family at Joy Community Church where he served as an elder. Kurt will be remembered for his big bear hugs, his smile that lit up the room, his loving nature, and his role as one of Santa’s Helpers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Marleen; children, Nicholas Brown, Katie (Zach) Most, Micah Brown; four grandchildren, Kaleigh, Sawyer, Wyatt and Jackson; siblings, Allen Brown, Michelle Barrette, Debra Gapczynski, Kevin (Jackie) Brown and Kyle (Dianna) Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
Kurt was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Marva; two brothers, Marvin and Kim; and his good friend, Bill W.
Friends may visit at Joy Community Church on Friday, February 21st from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 2 p.m. through time of his memorial service at 5 p.m.
Inurnment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Allis Township in the spring.
Memorials may be given to Cheboygan Humane Society in memory of Kurt Brown.
Always remember, Kurt would want you to count your blessings as you have a “Happy Heart Smile Day.”
