 Larry Alava Bonner, 84, of Lapeer passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025 in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones.
A private family burial took place June 10, 2025. He was laid to rest in Faith Lutheran Cemetery in Hawks.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks for the wonderful help & care given by Private Angels Respite Care & Residential Health and Home Hospice of Lapeer. Memorials may be given to Private Angels of Lapeer.
Larry was born May 27, 1941 in Detroit to Virgil and Elna Bonner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents, Elna & Virgil Bonner, and brother, Ronald.
He is survived by his four daughters; ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Larry attended kindergarten through fifth grade in a one room schoolhouse in Hawks. One year all students were related, no more than second cousins. He graduated from Cedarville High School in 1960. Larry spent the next two years attending college at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, and Muskegon School of Business. He enlisted in the Army in 1962. Larry’s final assignment was with the 75th bomb disposal unit. He married Carol in September 1963. After 35 years he retired from GM as a tool and die machinist. During his adult life he was a devout member at St. Paul Lutheran Church Lapeer.

Larry’s fondest memories are wrapped up in family.
