Leon Purta Jr.

Leon Purta Jr. age 81 of Presque Isle passed away November 18, 2020 at Medilodge in Alpena.

He was born June 28, 1939 in Hamtramck to Leon and Helen (Blyszka) Purta.

On October 4, 1958 he married Cecilia Anastasia Buza in Warren. He owned and operated Big Guy’s Party Store in Ira Township for 22 years, retiring in 2002.

Leon is survived by his wife, Cecilia; son, Leon Anthony Purta of Ware Shoals, South Carolina; daughter, Julie Louise Purta of Presque Isle; four siblings, Kathleen Shiemke of Washington, Beckey Andriensky of Washington, Penny (Larry) Hebert of Macomb and John (Amy) Purta of Utica; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home in Rogers City on Saturday, November 21st from 3:30 – 7 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 6:30.
Visitation will resume on Monday at the Gendernalik Funeral Home in New Baltimore from 3:30 – 7 p.m. with rosary at 6:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 9764 Dixie Hwy, Ira Township with visiting from 10:30.

Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
