Leonard Wozniak

1925 - 2015

Leonard L. Wozniak, 89, of Posen,
passed away on March I, 2015.

He is survived by:
his loving wife, Margaret (Krajniak) of 64 years;
children, Deborah (Greg) Hill of North Olmsted, OH, and
Gary (Maric) Wozniak of Posen;
grandchildren, Christopher Hill of Surprise, AZ,
Stacy (Kyle) Kreis of Ave Maria, FL,
Lindsay Hill of Westlake, OH,
Elizabeth Wozniak of Posen and
great-granddaughter, Kinley Kreis;
siblings Anita (George) Tucholski, Sr., Lois Wozniak,
Rev. Anthony Wozniak, Sally (James) Mulka and
Sr. Tereska Wozniak,

Preceding him in death were his parents Anthony and Theresa (Purol) and
brother Arthur (Betty) Wozniak.

Leonard spent most of his life in Posen and attended St, Casimir Catholic
School, As a child, he enjoyed going with his father and grandfather on
cattle buying trips, He later drove the truck for his dad hauling cattle to
Detroit and returning the same day. He was sworn into the U. S. Navy on
April 8, 1944, in Great Lakes, IL. He arrived at Pearl Harbor on June 18,
1944, While on the USS Southard, an old battleship built in 1919 that
was converted into a minesweeper, it took a hit from a Japanese suicide
plane on January 6, 1945, In 1955, Leonard took over the family grocery
business, With the help of his lovely wife, they operated the IGA store
for 27 years, retiring in 1982,

Leonard helped form the Posen VFW Post 7804 and was a member of the
Posen Knights of Columbus Council 6657. He enjoyed hunting, bowling,
snowmobiling, playing cards and traveling.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Posen on
Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 11:00 am. Posen VFW will accord military
honors following Mass.

Interment has taken place at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery on April 24th,
