Lewis Karsten
1926 - 2010Lewis William Karsten age 83 of Rogers City
passed away November 3, 2010 at Alpena Regional Medical Center
He was born November 26, 1926 in Moltke Township
to Adolph and Dorothea (Schaedig) Karsten
Lewis began delivering milk at age 14, later, forming a partnership and running
Karsten’s Dairy. On November 20, 1948, Pastor Louis Linn married
Lewis and Anna Maric Kreft at St. John Lutheran Church. He was mayor of
Rogers City from 1969 through 1973 and was a former member of the Kiwanis Club
and Rogers City School Board. Mr. Karsten enjoyed his rabbit dogs, hunting and
playing golf.
He survived by:
wife, Anna Marie;
2 sons, William (Esther) of Rogers City and Lee (Karen) of Gaylord;
5 grandchildren, Justin (Elizabeth), Brandon, Heather, Alayna, and Kyle;
great granddaughter, Ava;
brother, Lawrence (Deanna) of Moltke;
sister, Ethel (Ralph) Kreft of Rogers City
Mr. Karsten was preceded in death by:
parents, Adolph and Dorothea;
2 infant sons, Gerald and Ronald;
daughter, Janet, age 6;
sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Alfred Haneckow;
brother, Walter
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. with
a prayer service at 7:00 pm.. Visitation will resume at St. John Lutheran Church on
Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. with
Pastor John Schreiber officiating.
Interment will take place next to his children at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery
Memorials may be give to St. John Radio Fund, St. John School Scholarship Fund or
charity of your choice.
