Lillian Smith
1923 - 2013Lillian G, Smith, age 89 of Rogers City,
passed away June 20, 2013 at
Tendercare Health Center in Rogers City.
She was born August 16, 1923 in Krakow Township
to Walter and Josephine (Kuznicki) Chrzan.
On August 14, 1943 she married Joseph Julian Smith at
St. Casimir Catholic Church in Posen. Lillian was a member of
St. Ignatius Catholic Church and it’s Rosary Society, Daughter’s of
Isabella, and Ladies Auxiliary of the Rogers City VFW Post 607.
Mrs. Smith was a cook for the Rogers City Elementary School for many
years and she was also a Eucharistic Minister at St. Ignatius
Catholic Church for 15 years.
Mrs, Smith is survived by:
her husband, Joseph;
3 children, Donald (Jacqui) Smith of Rogers City,
Gerald (Melody) Smith of Harbor Beach, and
Mary (Joseph) Holzer of Fenton;
10 grandchildren;
11 great grandchildren;
4 siblings, Floyd, Adolph (Eva) Chrzan, Eugene (Windy) Chrzan, and
Irene (Lloyd) Donajkowski all of Alpena;
sister-in-law, Katherine Chrzan of Dearborn Heights.
She was preceded in death by:
her parents, Walter and Josephine;
siblings, Tony, Clara Szatkowski, Bernard, Lee, Celia, Ted, Aloysius,
and Virginia Konarczewski.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 until
8:00 p.m. where the Daughter’s of Isabella will recite the rosary at
6:30 followed by the parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. with
Dr. Jerome Green conducting.
Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 until
9:30 a.m. Fr, Arthur Duchnowicz will celebrate her Mass of Christian
Burial at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery,
Memorials may be given to St. Ignatius Catholic School or
Hospice of the Sunrise Shore in memory of Lillian Smith.
