Lorene Sorgenfrei

1912 - 2009

Lorene A. Sorgenfrei “Aunt Toots” age 96 of Moltke Township
passed away January 26, 2009 at Tendercare Health Center
of Rogers City

She was born April 4, 1912 in Millersburg to
Edward and Augusta (Hoeft) Rieger

On March 7, 1933 she married Hugo Sorgenfrei at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Sorgenfrei was secretary for the first zoning board in Presque Isle County,
a member of the Farm Bureau, German American Club, Harmonie Choraleers and a
life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke where she taught Sunday school
for 62 years. Lorene was a member of the ladies aid society, missionary league, and
church choir. She was a charter member of the Pieceable Light House Quilters, taught
chair caning and refinished furniture for many people in our area and was a 4-H Leader
for many years.

She is survived by:
son, Ronald & Kris of Millersburg,
3 grandchildren, Amy & Craig Hughes of Hancock, Michigan
Allen & Birgit Sorgenfrei of Changchun, China and Stuttgart, Germany, and
Steve Sorgenfrei of Munich, Germany
2 great grandchildren, Rebecca and Evelyn Sorgenfrei of Stuttgart, Germany
1 sister, Adeline & Don Wiltshire of Onaway
2 sisters in law, Irene Rieger of California and Edith Rieger of Onaway
and many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by:
husband, Hugo on December 20, 1988
parents, Edward & Agusta
5 brothers, Leonard, Bud, Herman, Clarence, and Louis
5 sisters, Clara, Elsie, Lillian, Dolores, and Edna

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Thursday from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m.
with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will resume on Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. until
time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Eric Voigt officiating.

Interment will take place in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery

Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church in memory of
Lorene Sorgenfrei.
