Lowell Urlaub

Lowell Roy “Pete” Urlaub age 87 of Hawks passed away at the Brook in Rogers City on July 29, 2025.

He was born in Bismarck Township to LeRoy and Florence (Claus) Urlaub on April 7, 1938.

Pete graduated from Rogers City High School in 1956 and sailed on the Great Lakes for over 30 years. In retirement, he enjoyed working in the woods with his chainsaw and bulldozers, hunting, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his four children, Elizabeth (Scott) Pilarski of Hawks, Carl (Lisa) Urlaub of Hawks, Mark (Kelly) Urlaub of Cheboygan, Denver (Stacey) Urlaub of Alaska, and special daughter-in-law Laura Urlaub of Cheboygan; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brothers Loren (Bonnie) Urlaub of Alpena and Bill (Marian) Urlaub of Bolton; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Urlaub of Rogers City and Pauline Urlaub of Alpena; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, Jerry Urlaub, Roger Urlaub and Joy Salatino and infant grandson, Tyler Urlaub.

Friends may visit the Beck Funeral Home on Monday, August 11th from 1:00 p.m. through the time of his funeral at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mary Hughes officiating.

Internment will follow at Bismarck Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Michigan in memory of Lowell “Pete” Urlaub.
