Lynda Brandt
1947 - 2019Lynda Kay Brandt, 72 of Hillman
passed away peacefully on May 19, 2019 following
a courageous 19-year battle with breast cancer.
Lynda was born in Alpena on January 20, 1947
to Clarence and Margaret (Klein) Soeltz.
She graduated from Hillman High School in 1965, On July 6, 1974 Lynda
married Wayne Brandt at St. John Lutheran Church. Together they made
their home in Hillman where they raised their three children, Angela,
Derrick, and Megan. Lynda devoted much of her life to staying home to
raise her children and supporting their school events and activities, After
her children were grown, she worked for the Food Service at the Hillman
Schools where she continued to care for children in the community, She
retired in 2012, Perhaps Lynda’s most treasured accomplishment was
becoming a grandmother. She made it her life mission to see the kids
grow, making countless long trips to catch a game, recital, or graduation,
She had a real finesse for spoiling each of them and found pure joy in
doing so, She knew each of their likes, dislikes and often went above and
beyond to find that treasured toy or item their parents had long given up
on, Some of Lynda’s final moments were filled with her husband,
brother, nephew, children and grandchildren conversing and laughing
around her. We can’t help think that this is perfection in Lynda’s mind
and feel joy knowing she left this life surrounded by the love of those
that she has loved unconditionally over the years.
Lynda is survived by:
her loving husband Wayne Brandt of Hillman and
brother, Larry Soeltz of Anaheim, CA,
She also leaves her grateful children, Angela McIntire of Dyersburg, TN,
Derrick (Sarah) Brandt of Pine Island, MN and
Megan (Brad) Munroe of Eyota, MN.
Grandchildren, Connor and Kiley McIntire, Jennah, Norah, Jakson and
Bennett Brandt, and Mackenzie and Cora Munroe,
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Margaret Soeltz,
sisters-in-law, Beverly Soeltz and Shyla (Brandt) Valley.

Lynda throughout her cancer journey. She received much of her care at

Mayo Clinic Oncology Department. Special thanks to Dr. Narjust Duma
