1925 - 2017Margaret Gordon age 92 of Rogers City
passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017
at Tendercare Health Center of Rogers City,
She was born February 9, 1925 in Rogers City
to Anthony and Agnes (Yarch) Mulka,
On June 20, 1925 she married Lt. Charles Gordon at St. Ignatius Catholic
Church. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1991. Margaret worked
for General Telephone Company for many years as an operator. When
automation arrived in the Rogers City area she took a position in the
company’s business office. Margaret devoted her life to her husband and
family, She liked to bake cookies thus earning her the name from her
grandchildren “cookie-dough grandma”. She also taught herself to
crochet and loved working in her garden and yard, Margaret especially
enjoyed being a grandmother and spending time with her family.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Church, its Rosary Society and the
Daughters of Isabella.
Mrs. Gordon is survived by:
two daughters, Jennifer Root of Lansing and
Gretchen (Ken) Leppert of Rogers City;
one son, Keith (Peg) Gordon of Rogers City;
a daughter-in-law, Gretchen Gordon of Cumming, Georgia;
she was Busia to seven grandchildren, Gordon (Ellen) Root, Kathy Root,
Heather (Chris) O’Dea, Scott (Sabrina) Leppert, Katie (Paul) Varga,
John (Kathryn) Gordon, Jacqui Yates and Christopher Gordon;
eleven great grandchildren, Amberlynne Wells, Ella,
Ryan and Samantha Varga, Ava, and Charlie Gordon,
Jocelyn Gordon Yates, Trenton and Trace O’Dea,
Lilly and Novalee Leppert;
one sister, Betty Vogelheim of Rogers City and
one brother, Donald (Virginia) Mulka of Prudenville;
many nieces and nephews and her Tendercare Family.
She was also preceded in death by:
a son, Charles II,
a grandson, Joshua Gordon;
5 brothers, Edmond, Clarence, Henry, Carl and Wallace Mulka;
three sisters, infant Martha, Angeline Gordon and Clara Modrzynski,
Friends may visit at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Wednesday,
May 17th from 10:00 a.m, through time of Mass of Resurrection at
11:00 a.m. celebrated by Fr. James Fitzpatrick.
Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In licu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to
Rogers City Tendercare’s Activity Room or St. Ignatius
School’s Angel Fund in memory of Margaret Gordon
