Marion Grabenstein
1912 - 2016Marion Kathleen Grabenstein age 103 of Rogers City
passed away May 1, 2016 at Golden Beach Manor.
She was born November 2, 1912 in Detroit a
to Charles and Zena (Moore) Frankford. 3°
Marion was only 18 months old when her father, Charles Frankford, died.
When Marion was about 10 years old, her mother, Zena, married Lyman
Allen, who was a devoted stepfather/grandfather to Marion and her
daughters, Marion married Henry Grabenstein on November 9, 1935 in
Detroit. She worked as a comptometer operator for Parke-Davis and had
an office window that overlooked the Detroit River. She loved
travelling and camping, making it to all 50 states and to Germany
Marion and Henry retired in the early 1970’s and moved to Rogers City.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and sang in the
choir, Marion enjoyed knitting, working crossword puzzles, watching
television game shows and keeping in touch with family and friends
through her computer. Marion drove a car until she was 98 years old
Mrs. Grabenstein is survived by:
2 daughters, Barbara (Bob) Berndt of Rogers City and
Elaine (Jon) Lyons of Cheboygan;
6 grandchildren;
8 great-grandchildren; and
1 great-great-grandchild, due to be born in early November,
Marion was preceded in death by:
parents, Charles and Zena;
husband, Henry;
and grandson, Mark Kondratko
Friends may visit Westminster Presbyterian Church on June 4, 2016 at
10:00 a.m, until time of Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. with
Reverend Lloyd Zicbarth officiating.
A luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall.
A private inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery
