Martha Hopp

1926 - 2015

Martha Pauline Ethel (Schlak) Hopp age 89 of Rogers City
went to her home in heaven on Friday, August 28, 2015, at
Rogers City Tendercare,

Martha was born to Gustav and Martha (Cordes) Schlak
in Royston, Michigan on July 12, 1926.

She was baptized and confirmed in her faith receiving Christian training
in Lutheran parochial school,She married Harold Hopp on June 19, 1948,
and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage. She was a dedicated wife and
mother who used her many talents as a wonderful cook, baker, seamstress
and gardener. She had a love for music playing and singing with polka
bands and church and German choirs, She and Harold were the Nautical
City Festival Grand Marshals in 1994 and were inducted into the
Michigan Polka Music Hall of Fame in 2001. She will be most
remembered for her love for and the study of God’s Word.

Mrs, Hopp is survived by:
her husband, Harold;
children, Diane (Pastor Thomas) Smuda, Eugene (Vita),
Beverly (Dean) Knox and Kenneth (Nancy);
grandchildren, Sarah (David) Liverseed, Aaron Smuda, Jesse Smuda,
Mary Smuda, Daniel (Ashley) Hopp, Melissa Hopp;
Emma Knox, Adam Knox and Kristy Hopp;
great grandchildren, Aleah Liverseed, Zachary Liverseed, Ruth Liverseed
and Miles Hopp.

She was preceded in death by:
her parents, Gustav and Martha;
brothers, Adolph, Carl, Otto and Robert; and
her sister, Esther Quade.

Family and friends may gather for visitation at the Beck Funeral Home on
Sunday, August 30th from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at
7:00 p.m, Visitation will resume at noon on Monday at Trinity
Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6134 US 23 North, The funeral service for
Martha will take place at the church at 1:00 p.m, with
Pastor Thomas E, Smuda officiating.

Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or
Rogers City Area Senior Center,
