Mary Jane Urban

Mary Jane Urban, age 101, of Rogers City, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Fenton, Michigan on June 7, 2024 with her daughters at her side.

She was born in Rogers City to Stephen and Theresa (Lewandowski) Smolinski on October 22, 1922.

Mary Jane attended County Normal where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught school at the Hagensville school before moving to Detroit to work at the Dodge Main Plant during World War II. On March 2, 1946 she married Clement Urban at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Mary Jane was  member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, its Rosary Society and the Daughters of Isabella.

She is survived by five children, Dr. Robert (Susanne) Urban, Eileen (Dave) Asam, Marian (Alan) Sabourin, Carolyn (Dave Welch) Urban and Steven (Amy) Urban; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Urban; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Misiak; and brother, James Smolinski.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Clement; son, Arthur; granddaughter, Kerri; brother, Arthur; brother-in-law, Jerry Misiak and sister-in-law, Phyllis Smolinski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Friday, June 14th at 10 a.m.

Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Mary Jane Urban to Presque Isle County Council on Aging or McLaren Hospice.
