Mary Latz

Mary Alice Latz, 83, mother, grandmother and great grandmother
died peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, January 9, 2019
at her home in Presque Isle, Michigan.

Mary was born August 16, 1935, daughter of Harold Elmer Reiter and
Alice Marie Reiter.

She was raised in Toledo, Ohio, graduating from Scott High School. She
attended University of Toledo where she met the love of her life, Gilbert
James Latz, They married in 1955 and celebrated their 49th anniversary
prior to his death in 2003, While they raised four children, Gil’s career
with Sears required multiple Mid-West transfers landing them in Toledo,
Ohio where they lived for 28 years. Gil and Mary had a passion for travel,
exploring multiple continents during their life together and voyaging
their boat on all of the Great Lakes. Mary and Gil completed their dream
trip cruising from the Great lakes down the Mississippi and its waterways
to the Gulf of Mexico. They purchased their retirement home in

Presque Isle, Michigan in 2000. Over her life Mary worked for the
airlines, Sears, Consumer Credit Counseling of Northwest Ohio and she
was a licensed Ohio Real Estate Agent.

Mary is survived by her children, Karen (Randy) Dixon, Jeff Latz,

Mike (Lisa) Latz, Lynn (Curt Owens) Ziegelhofer; her brother,

Scott (Patricia) Reiter; grandchildren, Lucas (Bethany Halasz) Dixon,
Roger (Claire) Dixon, Robert Dixon, Megan Latz, Craig (Stephanie) Latz,
Kori Latz, Kris (Amanda) Latz, Jeremy Latz, Emily Hoffman and Dan
Ziegelhofer, and 9 great grandchildren,

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Alice, her husband,
Gil, daughter in-law Bonnie Latz, and grand-daughter Laura Ziegelhofer.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be scheduled in the future,

The family would like to thank the Hospice of Alpena Michigan for their
help and care for Mary during the lasts weeks of her life.
