Mary Przybyla

Mary Przybyla

1951 - 2023

Mary Gladys Przybyla age 71 of Rogers City passed away at her daughter’s home in Byron Center on February 7, 2023.

She was born August 19, 1951 in Flint to Robert and Freida (Turner) Pleasant.

Mary is survived by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Przybyla Jr; daughter, Kathryn “Katie” (Kris) Kimball of Byron Center; son, Maj. Anthony “AJ” (Megan) Przybyla of Saginaw; six grandchildren, Paul Kimball, Leah Kimball, Jonathan Kimball, Gabriel Kimball, Anna Przybyla and Luke Przybyla; a sister, Vickie (Larry) Rose of Florida and a brother, Robert Pleasant of Alto.

Mary grew up in Grand Blanc, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan State University before spending a few years teaching high school math in Houghton lake. She would continue to use those math teaching skills tutoring many Rogers City kids both officially and unofficially, including helping her middle school granddaughter survive homeschool math during the pandemic via Zoom.

After marrying Tony in 1976, she was blessed to be a stay at home mom, homemaker, and indispensable school volunteer while raising Katie and AJ through the ’80s and ’90s.

Always a lifelong learner, Mary picked up piano and golf when her kids were in elementary school and took classes at ACC in architecture, CAD design, and painting in the ’90s.

Her love of teaching and golf brought her to a new chapter of life, with about 25 years in both roles: supporting our Rogers City teachers as an excellent and organized substitute teacher and taking care of everyone and everything in the pro shop at Rogers City Country Club.

Mary’s children and grandchildren are her pride and joy and her legacy.
