1927 - 2010

Melvin Henry Bade, 83, of Hawks,
passed away on Friday, October 29, 2010,
at Rogers City Tendercare.

Melvin was born June 11, 1927 in Belknap Township
to Alfred and Mildred Bade.

Melvin is survived by:
his wife Lotty,
a son, Dennis (Cheryl) of Hawks,
5 grandchildren, Kourtney of Grand Rapids,
Megan (Bruce) Mageli of Traverse City, and
Marissa, Cassidy and Karnryn of Owosso,
3 brothers, Elroy (Valeric) of Rogers City, Duane (Rita) of Hawks,
Durward (Gail) of Alpena, and
one sister, Arlene Kowalewsky of Rogers City

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry (Robbin) of Hawks.

Melvin was a lifelong resident of Hawks. He graduated from
Rogers City High School in 1944 and soon after, he started working at
Calcite, where he worked for 39 years until his retirement. Melvin enjoyed
hunting, fishing, and loved to play baseball, playing many years for the
Rogers City Indies.

After marrying Lotty in 1956, he bought a farm in Hawks where he raised
beef cattle until the late 1970’s. He loved the land and would spend many
hours, when not working at Calcite, on the tractor working up fields,
walking in the woods, or sitting all day hunting in his deer blind.

As many who knew him realized, Melvin had a deep love and respect for the
Bible … so much so that he spent over 40 years of his life sharing precious
Bible truths with others, For many of those years, he served as an elder in
the local Rogers City Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

A memorial service for Melvin will be held Saturday, November 6, at
2:00 p.m. at the Rogers City Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, with
Greg Lytle officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. and continue
until 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the
Rogers City Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses or the
Alzheimer’s Association,
