Melvin Brege

1931 - 2013

Melvin K. Brege, age 82 of Belknap,
passed away at home on July 30, 2013.

He was born April 6, 1931 in Belknap
to John and Helen (Hardies) Brege.

Mel served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
On September 28, 1957 he married Dorothy Neumann at Immanuel Lutheran Church
in Alpena. He retired from the Calcite plant in 1986. Melvin was a life member of
St. Michael Lutheran Church and its choir. He was also a member of the Rogers City
Servicemen’s Club and the American Legion. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed
playing spitzer, dancing, singing, hunting. fishing, helping his brother on the farm,
and working in the woods.

Mr. Brege is survived by:
his wife, Dorothy;
3 children, James (Suzette) Brege of Traverse City,
Mary (Fred) Schneider of Cape Cod, and
Timothy (Kimberly) Brege of Cummins;
10 grandchildren, Jameson Brege, Sara (Randy) Davey, Jonathon Brege,
Chad (Jaime) Baptiste, Ryan (Ashley) Baptiste,
Andrew and Susan Brege, Heather (Josh) Morgan,
Linda Wainright, and Mystery Wainright;
9 great grandchildren, Jordon, Brian, Alexxandria, and Luvena Davey,
Laila and Aubrie Baptiste, Alexis and Brandon Baptiste, and
Madison Morgan;
brother, Earl Brege of Belknap;
sister, Mildred Laurie of Zephyrhills, Florida, and
many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by:
his parents, John and Helen;
2 sisters, Grace DuQuette and Lorene Reed,

Friends may visit at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Belknap on Friday from
4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at
church on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. through time of funeral at 2:00 p.m. with
Pastor Keith Schneider officiating. Rogers City VFW Post 607 will accord military
honors immediately following.

Memorials may be given to St. Michael Lutheran Church or
Friends Together, 105 Prentiss Street, Alpena, MI 49707.
