Merritt Cole **Postponed**

Merritt Thurman Cole age 73 of Mackinaw City passed away November 19, 2021 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

He was born February 13, 1948 in Cheboygan to Merritt and Marilyn (Plaunt) Cole.

Merritt graduated from Mackinaw City High School in 1966 then enlisted in the United State Air Force. He retired as a prison guard from the Hiawatha Correctional Facility. Merritt enjoyed deer and duck hunting, spending time outdoors, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by two sons, Aaron (Rebecca) Cole, Ivan (Theresa) Cole; five grandchildren, Austin Cole, Joshua Cole, Nigel Cole, Matthew Lumpp, and Michael Radle; three great grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Cole, Kindel Sean Cole and Kylie Amiya Cole; six siblings, his twin, Marilyn Imeson, Brenda Bell, Roy (Meredith) Cole, Colleen (Dan) Durant, Janet Schaefer and Patricia (Mark) Lamberson.

Merritt was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth and his parents, Merritt and Marilyn.

**Postponed – service will take place in the Spring/Summer** A Memorial Service will take place Wednesday, December 8th at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of the Straits in Mackinaw City with Pastor David Wallace officiating.

Inurnment will follow at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Cemetery in Mackinaw City for Merritt and Elizabeth. Cheboygan VFW Post 3623 will accord military honors at the graveside.
