Milton Very

1923 - 2011

Milton Charles Very of Rogers City,
formerly of Oakdale, California
passed away February 10, 2011
at his beloved home in Rogers City.

Milt was born November 4, 1923 in Denver, Colorado, moving shortly after
with his parents, David and Blazana (Hegr) Very, to Oakland, California,
where he grew up. He graduated from the University of California,
Berkeley in 1947 after an interruption to serve in the United States Army.

Milt owned and operated his own business for many years before turning the
reins over to his son, Brian in 1989. After his retirement, Milt turned his
many talents to volunteering in the senior community. He served for eight
years as a Senator in the California Senior Legislature. He was active on
many boards on the city, county, and state level that were involved in senior
issues. He was elected Stanislaus County Senior Citizen of the Year in
1996. He and his wife, Dawn, moved to Rogers City in 2001 where Milt
continued his work with seniors at the Rogers City Senior Center – helping
many people with Medicare Part D. He served on the City Planning
Commission, the Technical Advisory Committee and the served as
Treasurer for the Rogers City Masons Lodge 493.

He is survived by:
his wife, Dawn;
2 daughters, Lisa (Larry) Stoner and Kimberly Laabs;
2 sons, Chris Very and Brian (Becky) Very;
14 grandchildren and
8 great grandchildren.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Monday, February 14th from
11:00 a.m. through time of funeral at 1:00 p.m. with his neighbor,
Pastor Kevin Jones officiating.

The Rogers City Masonic Lodge will follow with their funeral ritual.

Rogers City V.F.W. Post 607 will conclude services with a military tribute.

Memorials may be given to the Alpena Cancer Center or
Hospice of the Sunrise Shore.
