MJ Smitka

Mary Jean “MJ” Smitka age 95 of Rogers City passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2024.

She was born October 15, 1928 in Wyandotte to Clarence and Fern (Sheldon) Whitney.

On August 19, 1950 she married John “Jack” Smitka in Wyandotte. She and Jack moved to Rogers City in 1988.

MJ is survived by three sons, Michael (Gloria) of Lexington, Virginia, Curt (Cynthia) of Ann Arbor and Tim of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren, Mayumi (Steve) Kvech, John, Nicole (Jason) Zilio and Steven; and three great grandchildren, Kathryn Madeline and Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack”; parents and two sisters, Roberta (Ray) Amo and Ann Louise (Patrick) Esarey.
