Norman Aubrey
1937 - 2015Norman LaVerne Aubrey age 78 of Huron Beach
passed away suddenly on October 9, 2015 at home.
He was born September 3, 1937 in Onaway
to Ellsworth and Ruth (Freeland) Aubrey.
Norm graduated from Onaway High School in 1955. He enlisted in the
United States Air Force in 1957 and spent 6 years serving his country.
Norm worked at A C Spark Plug in Oak Creek, Wisconsin where he met
Mary Ellen Knitter, they were married on October 7, 1978 in Oak Creek
He retired from General Motors in 1986. Norm was past City Manager
for Onaway, past board member for Rogers City Chamber of Commerce
and Onaway Credit Union, and a past member of the Kiwanis Club. He
enjoyed the outdoors, with hunting, fishing and mowing grass, Norm was
known as “Mr. Fixit” around Huron Beach.
Mr. Aubrey is survived by:
his wife, Mary;
2 children, Jan Marie of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and
Thomas J. (Heather) of Lansing;
grandson, Gabriel;
2 brothers, George (Faye) of Fremont, California and
Ray (Jane) of Alpena;
sister, Mary Lee Eldridge of Topinabce;
2 sisters-in-law, Shirley Gerhardt of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and
Carol (Greg) Roeske of Jackson, Wisconsin;
several nieces and nephews;
special friends, Mike and Sheri Curtis and Laurie Lloyd.
He was preceded in death by:
his parents, Ellsworth and Ruth;
sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Art) Domke,
3 brothers-in-law, Chum Eldridge, Jim Knitter and Bert Gerhardt.
Friends may visit at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moltke Township on
Thursday, October 15th from 9:30 through time of funeral at 11:00 a.m.
with Pastor Eric Voigt officiating. Rogers City VFW Post 607 will accord
military honors immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church
or to a charity of your choice in memory of Norm Aubrey.
