Norman Quaine
1928 - 2015Norman Joseph Quaine age 87 of Rogers City
passed away October 2, 2015 at the
Alpena Regional Medical Center,
He was born October 1, 1928 in Ecorse, Michigan
to Joseph and Margaret (LaFlure) Quaine.
Norman was raised in River Rouge, Michigan. He attended and graduated
from Our Lady of Lourdes School in 1946. Norm sailed on the Great
Lakes for 35 years, retiring in June of 1981 with the last 14 years as
Captain, Norman married Edna Smolinski on November 24, 1949 at
St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Together they raised 8 children. Edna
preceded him in death on March 6, 2012. Norm was a 3rd Degree member
of the Knights of Columbus Council 1705 and St. Ignatius Catholic
Church,

8 children, Bill Quaine of Rogers City,
Peg (Keith) Gordon of Rogers City,
John (Cindy) Quaine of Sterling Heights,
Norm Jr. (Suc) Quaine of Rogers City,
Anne (James) Ryan of Rogers City,
Simone Quaine of Bakersfield, California,
Matthew (Jackic) Quaine of Rogers City, and
Joseph “Joey” Quaine of Rogers City;
21 grandchildren, Stephen and Samantha Quaine, Katie (Paul) Varga,
John (Kathryn) Gordon, Jacqui Gordon-Yates,
Liz (Ken) Braga, Tim, and Emily Quaine,
Leah (Duane) Woloszyk, Kelly (Shawn) Grulke,
Nathan (Jennifer) Ryan, Rachel (John) Ament,
Jude (Jeff) Aschoff, Bridget (Jeff) Kielman,
Luke, Blaise, and Jack Ryan, David (Steph), Patrick,
Megan, and Alexa Quaine; and
15 great grandchildren, Ella, Ryan, Sammy, Jocelyn, Ava, Annabelle,
Beau, Harper, Nora Jane, Nevach, Lourdes, Stella,
Paul, Kate and Aiden
He was preceded in death by
his wife, Edna;
parents, Joseph and Margaret; and
brother James.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 until
8:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:30 followed by the parish wake service at
7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday at St, Ignatius Catholic
Church from 9:00 a.m, until time of Mass at 10:00 a.m, with
Fr. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating.
Interment will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Ignatius Catholic School,
St. John Lutheran School or Hospice of Michigan
