Paul Stempky
1955 - 2016Paul Joseph Stempky age 61 of Rogers City
passed away unexpectedly at his home on
Saturday, November 19, 2016.
He was born August 4, 1955 in Cheboygan
to John and Esther (Robajdek) Stempky.
Paul graduated from Cheboygan Catholic High School in 1973, A talented
football and basketball player throughout high school, he passed his love
of sports onto several teams, coaching women’s softball in Pellston and
Cheboygan, Cheboygan Youth Hockey, the Rogers City High School
girls’ basketball team, and currently, the All Saints Junior High girls and
boys basketball teams.
He was an avid golfer, playing often and winning the 2015 Chamber of
Commerce golf outing. He also served on the Rogers City Country Club
Board of Directors. When not playing or coaching, he followed the
Detroit and University of Michigan teams religiously.
He spent most of his career working in the automotive repair business,
including Krug’s Rivertown Motors in Cheboygan, and for the last twelve
years, he was the Service Manager at Mike Lynch Ford in Rogers City.
He also served on the Rogers City Planning Commission.
Paul is survived by:
his three sons, Christopher of New York, NY, Jonathan of Frisco, TX,
Matthew of Sherman, TX,
his step-daughter, Jennifer of Frisco, TX and
grandson, Mason James.
He is also survived by his sisters and brothers,
Theresa (Gerald) Heinzel of Rogers City,
Michael (Paulette) Stempky of Posen, Regina (Jerry) Baller,
Peter (Marge) Stempky, Celine Stempky,
Elizabeth France, all of Cheboygan,
George (Maggie) Stempky of Pellston, and
many nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday,
November 25th, from 12 noon through time of his memorial service
at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Paul Megge officiating,
Memorials may be given to St. Ignatius Sports Program or
Bishop Baraga Sports Program in memory of Paul Stempky.
