Peter J. Dehring age 77 of Rogers City
passed away December 28, 2011 at home
He was born May 9, 1934 in Rogers City
to John and Theresa (Haske) Dehring
Pete served in the 11th Airborne Division of the United States Army during the
Korean Conflict. On September 8, 1956 he married Betty McElmurry at
St. Ignatius Catholic Church. After 38 years of service, Pete retired as a
Wheelsman from the Great Lakes Fleet. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic
Church, Knights of Columbus 4th degree, Rogers City Servicemen’s Club,
American Legion Post 121, Life member of the Rogers City VFW Post 607 and
DAV. He enjoyed hunting and time spent at camp.
Mr. Dehring is survived by:
his wife, Betty;
5 children, John L. (Betty) of Grand Lake, Donald (Marci) of Rogers City,
Margaret (Roger) Stricker of Hawks, Gregory of Rogers City, and
Annemarie Bisson of Rogers City;
6 great grandchildren;
1 sister, Barbara (Bernard) Heath of Sun City, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by:
his parents, John and Theresa;
3 brothers, Wallace Dehring, Ed Schepke, and Roy Schepke;
3 sisters, Isabele Phelan, Julia Kuznicki, and Blanch Mulka,.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Friday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m.
where the 4th degree Knights will recite the rosary at 6:30p.m. Sr. Rita Epple will
follow at 7:00 p.m. with the parish wake service. Visitation will resume on Saturday
at St. Ignatius Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m, through time of mass at 10:00 a.m,
with Fr. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating. Rogers City VF W will accord full military
honors following mass. Luncheon will follow at the VFW in the lower level.
Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in memory of Peter Dehring to
Rogers City Area Senior Center or St. Ignatius Catholic School.
