Randal Vieau

1963 - 2023

Randal Vieau, age 59, of Cheboygan, Mi, died January 25th , 2023 after a 10 month battle against Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Randy was born on November 7th, 1963 to Howard C. Vieau and Carol Jane (Carlson) Vieau of Mackinaw City, Michigan.

Randy went to school and grew up in Mackinaw City and had many siblings, cousins and friends. They shared many amazing adventures growing up. Randy was a member of the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and the Mackinaw City Bible Church. He also regularly attended Thursday night Bible Study in Cheboygan at the House of Bethany, which is being re-named to the Randy Vieau Bible Training Center. In his lifetime, Randy was a truck driver with Big Stone Bay Fishery in Mackinaw City, and Northern Pure Ice. He also was a surveyor for Marvin Ross for several years. Later in life, Randy was well-known as a talented chef and worked at a variety of pubs and restaurants. His co-workers loved him. He was a mentor to many younger adults with which he worked. Randy’s favorite hobbies included gardening, taking road trips, camping and hiking in the woods. He was the best at spotting morel mushrooms, wild asparagus, and other wild, seasonal treats. Randy hunted wild game, but he liked to fish most of all. Randy enjoyed listening to Old Country Gold music and watching College Football and Basketball, especially his favorite teams playing for University of Michigan.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Leah (Hoyes) Vieau, his daughter Marcella Vieau, his sons, Joseph Vieau and Christopher Smith. He was also step-dad to Leah’s children, Helen Wolfe and Teddy Wolfe. Randy is survived by his brothers, Michael (Carrie) Vieau and Gary Vieau, and his sister, Diane Vieau. Randy is survived by a large, extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Carol Vieau, and his brothers Howard, Matthew, Mark, John, and Danny.

A memorial service for Randy will be held on Saturday, February 4th, 2023 at 11am at the Mackinaw City Bible Church, with a luncheon afterwards. Pastor Nelson will be officiating.

Donations to help the family with burial costs are not necessary but are appreciated. Donations may be made to the Mackinaw City Bible Church, The Karmanos Cancer Institute, or the Hiland Cottage Hospice House of Petoskey, Michigan.
