Richard Allen

Richard Ransom Allen age 84 of Indian River passed away peacefully at his home on April 1, 2024.

He was born March 28, 1940 in Detroit to Robert and Kathleen (Ransom) Allen.

Richard graduated from Mt. Clemens High School in 1958. He received his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1964. He began teaching at Inland Lakes in 1971 and retired as the Middle School science teacher in 2000. He spent 17 years as as a life guard at the Detroit Metro-Parks from 1955 – 1972. He enjoyed fishing and sailing and took part in the Chicago to Mackinaw and the Port Huron to Mackinaw races.

He is survived by four nieces and several close friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Kathleen and a brother, David.
