Robert Holowaty

1935 - 2017

Robert E. Holowaty, 81 of Presque Isle
died July 25, 2017 in the comfort of his home
surrounded by love from family and caregivers,

He was born on Aug 11, 1935 in Dearborn
to John and Mary (Lako) Holowaty and
was the youngest of 5 children,

He was a graduate of Fordson High School in Dearborn, MI in 1953 and
was on the swim team, track and cross country team. He took the cross
country team to State Finals. He attended Henry Ford Community College
and attained a business degree. In 1955 he joined the army and served as
a medic and received a Motor Vehicle Drivers Badge and Good Conduct
Medal. While on tour in Europe one of his favorite places he stopped at
was Germany. He came home saying “Danke schoen” and “Frau”. German
beer stole his taste buds and a beautiful English woman named Rita
Harwood stole his heart.

He brought Rita home from England and married
her in 1960, In 1961 daughter Lisa Holowaty was
born, Bob tragically lost his first wife Rita in
January 1968 due to a car accident. A few years
later he married Eileen Maskell in 1971 and they
had four children together, Robin, Lara, Sarah,
and Ryan, In 1987 he tragically lost a grandson.
Bob was known for his amazing work ethic and
worked at Ford Motor company for at least 30 years. In 1993 he had
reached a life time goal of retiring and moving up north to live on the
lake. He moved up to Grand Lake in Presque Isle, MI with Eileen, Sarah
and Ryan. Bob was known for his love of fishing and hunting. He was an
amazing gourmet chef and was also very hospitable, generous and kind.
He was always ready to lend a hand and if he knew you were in need,
he’d give you the shirt off his back to help you out. He was also an avid
animal lover and would often donate dog food to the Alpena Humane
Society Shelter. His puppy Charley, and grand doggies, Munchkin and
Minni will also miss him very much,

Bob is survived by:
his wife, Eileen; —wits
5 children, Lisa (Edward) Addison,
Robin (Michella) Holowaty,
Lara (Anton) Abramov, Sarah (Joseph) Romel,
and Ryan Holowaty; –
He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and ==
3 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, ~
and his beloved loyal dog, Charley.

Bob was preceded in death by:
his parents, John and Mary;
his first wife, Rita;
4 siblings; and
an infant grandson, Baby Boy Addison.

The family will have a Celebration of Life picnic next summer
in honor of Bob,
