Robert Murphy
1952 - 2015Robert Clayton “Murph” Murphy age 63 of Rogers City
passed away unexpectedly at home on December 12, 2015.
He was born May 28, 1952 in Rogers City
to Clayton and Lorene (Yarch) Murphy,
Murph graduated from Rogers City High School in 1971 then served in the
United States Army during the Vietnam War. On April 25, 1997 he
married Jan Haneckow-Glentz in Rogers City. He retired from Great
Lakes Shipping after 30 years of dedicated service. Mr. Murphy was a
member and Commander of the American Legion Post 121, a member of
Rogers City VFW Post 607, Rogers City Servicemen’s Club, Eagles
Club, St. Ignatius Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus,
Bob is survived by:
his wife, Janice;
3 daughters, Tracy (Dave) Niedzwiecki, Jenney McLaren and
Delaine Murphy;
mother, Lorene Liedtke;
3 sisters, Linda (Louis) Ciarkowski, Mary (Mark) Wieber and
Kathy (Bill) Yaklin;
5 stepchildren, Stacie (Brian) Bishop, Michael (Kristin) Glentz,
Robert Glentz, Shannon (Nick) Guerra and John Glentz;
many grandchildren
Memorial visitation will take place at the Beck Funeral Home on
Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with full military honors offered by
the Rogers City VFW at 7:00 p.m, Visitation will resume at St. Ignatius
Catholic Church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. through time of his memorial
mass at 10:00 a.m, with Fr. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to
the American Legion Post 121 or Rogers City VFW Post 607,
