He was born August 17, 1928 in Rogers City
to John and Emma (Charron) Parsons
Rog graduated from Rogers City High School in 1946 then served in the
82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. On August 9, 1952 he married
Patricia A. Foster at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlevoix. Mr. Parsons was a
member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, the Lions Club and a Charter Member of
the Rogers City Area Senior Center. In his earlier years, he was an avid bowler and
golfer. Roger was an extreme Rogers City Sports Fan, He will be remembered for
his ability to turn an ordinary sign into a work of art with his “sign writing” abilities.
Roger is survived by:
his wife, Pat;
2 daughters, Ann (David) Birkenmeyer of Belmont and
Jane (Terry) Belland of Defiance, Ohio;
5 grandchildren, Erica (Bryan) Kishman, Alex Birkenmeyer, Luba (Justin) Jones,
Leeann Belland, and Matthew Belland;
3 great grandchildren, Jack Kishman, Aubrey Kishman, and Tatiyana Jones;
sister, Theo (Alvin) Gapezynski;
2 brothers, Leonard Parsons and Leo (Peggy) Parsons.
He was preceded in death by:
his parents, John and Emma;
sister, Norma Jean Parsons;
brother, Ferris Parsons
Friends may gather at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 21st from
10:00 a.m. through time of Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Arthur Duchnowicz
and Sr. Rita Epple officiating. Rogers City VF W will conclude services at church
with a Military Tribute. A celebration of Rogers’s life and luncheon will follow at
the Rogers City Area Senior Center,
Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska.
In licu of flowers memorials may be given to Rogers City Area Senior Center
in memory of Roger Parsons.
