Rose McDonald
1928 - 2013Rose Mary McDonald, age 84 of Rogers City
died peacefully on May 8, 2013, at her home
surrounded by the love of her nieces and nephews.
She was the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Schleben) Pardike,
born September 30, 1928, She was baptized and confirmed in her faith
at St. John Lutheran Church and graduated from Rogers City High School.
At age 19, Rose Mary moved to Detroit where she met and married
Leslie McDonald on August 18, 1951.
After working as a secretary at Hannan YMCA for 19 years, she and her
husband became co-owners of M and M Hardware in Detroit. She was
employed there until her retirement.
In 1996 after the death of Leslie, she returned to Rogers City to be near
her sister, brothers and their families.
Throughout her lifetime, Rose Mary had a special love for children.
With her younger brother, Ted, her many nieces and nephews, and her
neighborhood children she shared her love, wisdom and guidance,
She inspired each of them to excel in their chosen path.
Rose Mary is survived by:
brothers Theodore (Catherine), Guy (Ann), and Marlow (Eleanor)
and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by:
her husband, Leslie;
sisters, Elva Werth and Virginia Srodes;
brothers, Merlin, Norman, Harold, and Robert Pardike.
A graveside service will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery
on August 3, 2013.
Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran School,
Hospice of the Sunrise Shore, or a charity of your choice
in memory of Rose Mary McDonald.
