Roy Klotz
1932 - 2023Roy Eugene “Paw” Klotz age 90 of Hillman joined his wife, Shirley in Heaven on Thursday, May 18, 2023 and what a wonderful reunion it was.
He was born July 8, 1932 in Lansing to Roy and Genevie (Binger) Klotz.
Roy and Shirley moved their family of five children to Hillman from Pinckney in 1971. During Roy’s lifetime, he was a farmer, a builder, a truck driver, owner of R and S Fun Foods, making and serving Elephant Ears and other snacks all over Northern Michigan, and part owner of R and S Sawmill, and the job he truly loved, driving school bus.
Roy proudly served in United States Army during the Korean War as a tank Operator.
Roy was very involved in his community where he served as a volunteer Fire Fighter, served on various boards, volunteered at the Montmorency County Fair for many years and was involved in his kid’s school activities.
Paw is survived by his children, Pam (Steve) Achatz, Connie (Mike Morency) Johnston, Amy (Lee Folsom) Carter, Carol (Mike Cramer) Klein, Chris (Kathy Sanders) Klotz and son-in-law, Rick Cordes. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; a brother, Bruce (Geneva) Klotz; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Shirley; son-in-law, Perrin Klein; grandson, Cody Klein; great granddaughter, Amy Cordes; parents, Roy L. and Genevie Klotz.
Roy’s greatest pride was in his family and he always said he never had a lot of money but he was the richest man in the world.
Friends may visit at St. John Lutheran Church in Royston on Monday, May 22nd from 4-8 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of his funeral at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jason Mandley officiating.
Burial will follow at Montmorency Township Cemetery where Hillman VFW Post 2356 will accord military honors.
Memorials may be given to the Hillman Fire Department and the Montmorency County Fair.
