Sylvia Hoeft

1937 - 2011

Sylvia “Jeanie” Hoeft age 74 of Rogers City,
passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at home.

She was born July 19, 1937 to
the late Marlin and Anita (Trapp) Wenzel

After her graduation from Rogers City High School in 1955 she moved to Detroit
to become a beautician, later moving to Oklahoma until she returned to Rogers City
in 1976. She married Neil Hoeft on March 31, 1978 at St. John Lutheran Church.
They farmed and operated an adult foster care home until their retirement.
Her husband, Neil preceded her in death on June 29, 2008.

Jeanie was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, Presque Isle County
Farm Bureau, Quilter’s Guild, Zonta Club, and the Red Hat Ladies Group.

She is survived by:
3 sons, Dennis (Susan) Vanatta of Colorado,
Keith (Catherine) Hoeft of Texas, and
Jim (Daniel) Hoeft of California;
8 grandchildren, Kirstin, Laura, Kristine, Sandra, Matthew, Cecilia, Peter, and Austin;
sister, Brenda (Chester) Karsten of Rogers City;
nephew, Kent Karsten;
2 great nieces, Jessica and Emily Karsten

Jeanie was preceded in death by:
daughter, Sheila Sorel;
son-in-law, Morgan Sorel;
niece, Kendra Karsten

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m.
with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday at
Peace Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. through time of funeral at 11:00 a.m.
with Pastor Jack Ferguson officiating.

Interment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, Hospice of the Sunrise Shore,
or a charity of your choice,
