Ted Planck

1926 - 2012

Ted Planck age 86 of Rogers Township,
passed away November 29, 2012 at Golden Beach Manor.

He was born April 8, 1926 in Hulbert, Michigan
to Wallace and Kathryn (Osborn) Planck

Ted moved from Hulbert to Flint in the early 1950’s where he started his construction
business, Maple Leaf Homes, While in Flint, Ted built hundreds of homes
throughout Genesee County and the surrounding area. In 1978, while on a fishing
trip to the Rogers City area, he saw and purchased the old depot property where he
built the Driftwood Motel the following year. In 1980 he married Ellen Heller in
Rogers City, they operated the motel for several years until selling it and getting
back into the building trades. Ted built numerous homes in the area, not to mention
many commercial renovations and new construction. He enjoyed the outdoors,
hunting, fishing and traveling with his Ellen.

Ted is survived by:
his wife of 32 years, Ellen;
3 sons, Howard (Deb) Planck of McMillan, Dan (Bunny) Planck of Florida, and
Rod (Marlene) Planck of McMillan;
4 grandchildren, Ryan, Cher, Eric, and Cory;
his faithful companion, Cody.

He is also survived by:
brothers, Harry and Butch Planck;
sister, Linda (Ray) Hayes.

Friends may visit Beck Funeral Home Sunday, December 2nd from 5:00 until
8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor John Schreiber conducting.
Visitation will continue at Peace Lutheran Church on Monday from 10:00 a.m.
through time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor J. Derek Riddle officiating.

Burial will take place at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, St. John Lutheran Church or
the Salvation Army in memory of Ted Planck.
