Theresa Purol

Theresa Ann Purol age 94 of Posen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 2, 2020.

She was born March 31, 1925 in Posen to Stanley and Rose (Rygwelski) Wozniak.

Theresa graduated from Posen High School in 1943 as Valedictorian of her class. On September 4, 1944 she married John Purol at St. Casimir Catholic Church. Mrs. Purol was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church ang its Rosary Sodality.

She is survived by eight children, Gerald (Patricia) Purol of Lansing, Robert (Gladys) Purol of Posen, (daughter-in-law) Kathy Purol of Posen, Wayne (Danette) Purol of Rochester Hills, Annette (Dennis) Taratuta of Posen, Patrick (Laurie) Purol of Posen, Raymond (Kathy) Purol of Oregon, Carol (Chuck Jr.) Rhode of Hawks and Laurie (Terry) Buczkowski of Posen; 25 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley (Virginia) Wozniak Jr. of Posen and Raymond (Laurie) Wozniak of Posen; two sisters, Gertrude Dembny of Posen and Blanche Meyers of Posen; a brother-in-law, John Misiak Jr. of Posen and many nieces and nephews.

Theresa was preceded in death by: husband, John; son, Arthur; grandson, Mike; three brothers, Frank (Esther Krajniak) Wozniak, Phil (Lillian) Wozniak and Cash (Helen) Wozniak; six sisters, Esther (John) Momrik, Anna (Myron) Konwinski, Emily (Joe) Ratkowiak, Clara (Alex) Gajsiewicz, Martha Misiak and Loretta (Elmer) Lewandowski; and two brothers-in-law, Ray Meyers and Eddie Dembny.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7th from 4-8 p.m. where the Rosary Sodality will recite the Rosary at 6:30 followed by the Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. with Sr. Mary Michelz conducting. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating.

Burial will take place in the spring at St. Casmir Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Posen Area Fire and Rescue or Hospice of Michigan in memory of Theresa Purol.

In honor of Theresa’s long lineage with the Purol family, those attending her funeral are encouraged to wear pearls to represent the “String of Purols”.
