Virginia Brown

Virginia Ann Brown age 81 of Presque Isle passed away at home on January 23, 2026 with family at her side.

She was born in Northville on February 26, 1944 to Robert and Berneda (Roth) McGarry.

Virginia Ann Brown, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and fur mom, awoke to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 81-years of age. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Presque Isle, Michigan, surrounded by family, and in the prayers of family & friends across the United States, and in the Republic of Korea.

Born Virginia Ann McGarry on February 26, 1944 in Northville, Michigan, she was the eldest daughter of the late Robert and Berneda (Roth) McGarry, and older sister to Barbara Flanigan, Patricia Penley, and the late Robert “Bob” McGarry.

Virginia was a member of the Whitmore Lake High School Graduating Class of 1962.

She is survived by her beloved son James Eric Brown (Marcia), her sole grandson Jeremiah Daniel Brown & his mother Eun-Hee Brown, her sisters Barbara (Jim) Flanigan & Patricia Penley, her fur babies Dakota and Zetty, and a host of loving relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her son’s father, Jimmy D. Brown, and her younger brother, Robert “Bob” McGarry.

Virginia is being remembered as a devoted, hard-working, and loving mother, a doting grandmother, and as a beloved “Aunt Ginny” to her many nieces and nephews. Her time on this earth was marked by giving, with her hospitality, compassion, generosity, and love being a shining light for many in her life. She was known in her family for being a practical joker with a wonderful sense of humor, someone with the ability to overcome hardship with grace, and the ability to dominate at the Yahtzee table into the late hours of the night.

Virginia Brown will be cremated, per her wishes. Beck Funeral Home, in Rogers City, Michigan. assisted with these arrangements.

She will be honored with a memorial service on Saturday, January 31st, at Praise Community Church in Plymouth, Michigan: 45000 N Territorial Rd, Plymouth, MI 48170.

Friends may visit from 10:00 am through time of her memorial service at 12:00 pm with a luncheon to follow.
