Virginia Smigelski
1921 - 2025Virginia Smigelski age 104 of Posen passed away peacefully at Orchard Manor on December 2, 2025 with family at her side.
She was born in Posen on August 27, 1921 to Anthony and Agnes (Klien) Smolinski.
Virginia was a life-long member of St. Casimir Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking and baking but her biggest accomplishment was the way she made each person feel when they came to the farm to visit. She was wise beyond her years. She accepted and loved each person for who they were and saw the beauty in every day of her 104 years. Virginia lived through many hardships, yet her faith never wavered. We are forever grateful for the love she poured into each of us.
She is survived by two sons, James (Lorraine) Smigelski and Jerry (Dawn) Smigelski all of Posen; son-in-law, Bob Salenski of Haslett; 11 grandchildren, James (Cheryl) Smigelski, Laura (Tom) Hilla, Sarah (Jeremy) Hedden, Eric (Jodi) Salenski, Rebecca (Darren) Westfall, Brian (Jessica) Szczerowski, Jaclyn (Mike) Lancewicz, Matthew Sczcerowski, Jeannie Szatkowski, Bradley (Angie) Szatkowski and Zachary Smigelski; 19 great grandchildren, Alyssa Smigelski, Devin Hilla, Ashley (Chris) Lopez, Tyler Hedden, Jacob Hedden, Sam Salenski, Will Salenski, Ryland Westfall, Carter Westfall, Harper Westfall, Kenzie Szczerowski, Brynn Szczerowski, Kai Lancewicz, Sutton Lancewicz, Nick Kozdron, Ben Woloszyk, McKenzie (Isaac) Wammock, Matthew Szatkowski and Ella Szatkowski; and one great-great granddaughter, Guinevere Wammock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward on August 8, 2006; two daughters, Rose Salenski on January 12, 2017 and Theresa (Ervin “Stork” on September 17, 1999) Szczerowski on June 1, 2021; siblings, Roman, Wallace, Phillip, Florian, Benjaman, Arthur, Genevieve, Sally, Gertrude and Celia.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Thursday, December 4th from 4-8 p.m. where the Rosary Sodality will lead the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Parish Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday at St. Casimir Catholic Church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. with Fr. Charlie Donajkowski officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to: St. Casimir Catholic Church or Hospice of Michigan.
The world lost one of it’s brightest stars that day.
