Wally Hein
1923 - 2013Wally Hein, age 89 of Hawks, went to Heaven on
February 14, 2013 to be with his wife Margaret
on their 67th wedding anniversary.
He was born December 12, 1923 in Metz
to Julius and Bertha (Elowsky) Hein.
Wally proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. After
retuming home, he married Margaret Reitz on February 14, 1946. He retired from Calcite
in 1989 as a Foreman and was known by all the guys as “Pa”. Wally enjoyed bird and rabbit
hunting. He learned to play the guitar at age 85, then went on to learn how to play the
organ. Mr. Hein will be remembered as a great story teller.
Wally is survived by:
4 sons, Edward (Lois) Hein of Pennsylvania, Stephen (Judy) Hein of Hawks,
Clifford (Sharon) Hein of Metz, and Jeffrey (Barbara) Hein of Texas;
1 daughter, Jeanette (Bob) Pugh of Lansing;
12 grandchildren;
14 great grandchildren;
special friend, Mayble (his beloved cat).
He was preceded in death by:
his wife, Margaret on June 4, 2008;
6 brothers and 1 sister.
Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Sunday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. where
Rogers City VFW will offer a military tribute at 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service.
Visitation will resume on Monday at St. John Lutheran Church in Hagensville from
12:00 p.m. until time of funeral at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Charles Schultz officiating.
Interment will take place in the old St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to a charity of your Choice in memory of Wally Hein.
