Wilfred Karsten

1924 - 2013

Wilfred A. Karsten, age 89 of North Allis Township,
passed away September 12, 2013 in Onaway.

He was born May 14, 1924 in Ocqueoc Township
to William and Martha (Sorgenfrei) Karsten.

Wilfred served in the United States Army during World War II. After returning
home he worked for Rogers City Power company for 3 years then took over duties
on the family farm. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, sat on the Onaway
School Board, and North Allis Township Board of Review.

He enjoyed farming and hunting.

Mr. Karsten is survived by:
his wife, Linda;
3 children, Fred (Ruth) Karsten of Allis Township, Susan (Dick) Freel of Cedarville,
and Betty (Jim) Musser of Onaway;
8 grandchildren;
14 great grandchildren;
2 sisters, Lorene Dittmar of Millersburg and Delores (Dick) Bruning of Rogers City;
brother, Billy Karsten of Millersburg.

Wilfred was preceded in death by:
his first wife, Elinor on September 30, 1979;
twin sons, Richard and Robert; and
sister, Elmyra Piechan.

Friends may visit at the Beck Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. through
time of his funeral service at 12-Noon where the Rogers City VFW will offer a
military tribute.

Interment will follow at Elm Hill Cemetery in Onaway.

Memorials may be given to the Leukemia Society of Michigan
in memory of Wilfred Karsten.
